About Us
The Ceramic technologies group in the “Center of excellence in Materials and Manufacturing for Futuristic mobility” is designed to be a unique center that will focus on Intelligent Design of Ceramics from electronic structure calculations & atomistics to device fabrication. The ceramic research in the country is quite dispersed and the research activities in national laboratories/organizations are predominantly limited to strategic ceramics which are hardly published and not available in public domain. The research leaders at center will facilitate closing the gap between lab-scale research and industrial applications.

Center Concept- Research Structure
In the center it is proposed to focus on four major research themes with three verticals and one horizontal that connects all the three verticals (see below figure), namely, Domain-I focusing on Micro- and nanostructured ceramics and coatings; Domain-II, on Structural ceramics and composites; Domain-III, on Functional ceramics for energy and environment.
